About This Trip

Experience the ultimate island contrast with Coastal Wonders & Northern Heritage, a comprehensive 12-day journey that sweeps across Sri Lanka’s most pristine beaches and historic strongholds. This unique route takes you from the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress to the white sands of Trincomalee on the east coast, before venturing into the rarely explored cultural depths of Jaffna in the far north. Your adventure wraps up with the vibrant city energy of Colombo and the tropical, sun-drenched shores of Bentota, offering a perfect harmony of relaxation and discovery.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Coastal Welcome

  • Arrive at Colombo International Airport.
  • Transfer to Negombo (approx. 20-30 minutes’ drive).
  • Relax on Negombo Beach and explore the local markets and fishing village.
  • Overnight: Negombo.

Days 2 & 3: The Cultural Triangle

  • Travel to Sigiriya (approx. 4-5 hours’ drive).
  • Climb the magnificent Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
  • Explore the nearby Dambulla Cave Temple, another UNESCO site famous for its impressive cave paintings and Buddha statues.
  • Overnight: Sigiriya.

Days 4 & 5: Eastern Shores

  • Travel to Trincomalee on the east coast (approx. 3-4 hours’ drive).
  • Relax on Nilaveli Beach or Uppuveli Beach, celebrated for their white sands and crystal-clear waters.

Days 6 & 7: The Northern Peninsula

  • Travel north to Jaffna (approx. 5-6 hours’ drive).

  • Relax on Casuarina Beach or take a boat to explore nearby islands like Nainativu.
  • Overnight: Jaffna.

Days 8 & 9: City Lights & Heritage

  • Travel south to the capital, Colombo (approx. 6-7 hours’ drive).
  • Explore city attractions including the National Museum, Gangaramaya Temple, and Independence Square.
  • Enjoy shopping and dining in Colombo’s vibrant markets and cafes.
  • Overnight: Colombo.

Days 10 & 11: Southern Beach Bliss

  • Travel down the coast to Bentota (approx. 1.5-2 hours’ drive).
  • Relax on Bentota Beach and enjoy thrilling water sports activities.
  • Visit the lush Brief Garden or take a scenic boat safari through the mangroves of the Madu River.
  • Overnight: Bentota.

Day 12: Departure

  • Enjoy free time for last-minute shopping or exploration, depending on your flight schedule.
  • Transfer to Colombo International Airport for your departure.
